Vingcard encoders will occasionally have issues working properly, the most common issues can usually be fixed on the spot. Before submitting a trouble ticket please try the basic troubleshooting steps below.

Do Not Move Vingcard Encoders

Vingcard encoders are specifically programmed for only one computer and only one network port. If the Vingcard encoder or the connected/associated computer is moved, it will no longer work. You must contact IT prior to moving a Vingcard encoder or the computer connected to the Vingcard encoder.

Vingcard Encoder Gives Encryption Error

Please try the following steps in order, verifying if the Vingcard encoder starts working after each step.
  1. Make sure all connections (2, 4) are plugged in all the way
  2. Make sure Connection Switch (3) is set to LAN
  3. Turn the Power Switch (1) off and then back on to 'reboot' the Vingcard encoder
  4. Run a cleaning card through the encoder three or four times

     Most Vingcard encoder encryption errors are caused by the Connection Switch (3) accidentally being switched to something other than LAN.

Room Key Stuck in the Vingcard Encoder

Room Key is Stuck

If a room key becomes stuck in the Vingcard encoder, you can insert another room key into the front of the encoder and it will push the stuck room key out of the Rear Card Exit (5)

Once you remove the stuck room key, run a cleaning card through the Vingcard encoder three or four times.

Do Not Open Vingcard Encoders

If the room key will not come out of the Rear Card Exit (5), do NOT try to open the Vingcard encoder up to remove the room key another way. The insides of the Vingcard encoders are fragile and can be easily damaged if tampered with.
